Cyber Monday

Mon, 30 Nov 2026

  1. Fri, 2 Oct 2026

    Prep

    Decide the offer

One offer, worked out against your margin: what discount still leaves profit after ad costs? Check stock on the products you will feature.

  2. Fri, 16 Oct 2026

    Prep

    Start collecting early-access sign-ups

Change the pop-up and footer form to promise early access to the sale. People who join now are the ones who open in November.

  3. Fri, 30 Oct 2026

    Prep

    Warm the list up

Send your normal emails on schedule. Mailbox providers judge you by how people react to your mail, so a quiet list that suddenly gets five emails a week is a deliverability risk.

  4. Fri, 6 Nov 2026

    Prep

    Check your flows

Abandoned checkout, browse abandonment and welcome flows should be live and tested: traffic peaks this week, and they catch what campaigns miss.

  5. Fri, 13 Nov 2026

    Email

    Teaser email

Say that something is coming and when. No discount code yet. Invite people to join the early-access list.

  6. Fri, 20 Nov 2026

    Email

    Early access for subscribers

The offer opens to your list a week ahead of everyone else. This is the send that rewards the people who signed up.

  7. Thu, 26 Nov 2026

    Date

    Thanksgiving (US)

Many US shoppers are with family today. A short "tomorrow" reminder works; a full sale email is usually lost.

  8. Fri, 27 Nov 2026

    Date

    Black Friday

    The sale opens to everyone.

  9. Fri, 27 Nov 2026

    Email

    Black Friday launch email

Send in the morning, your customers’ time. Lead with the offer and the end date. Put the best sellers first.

  10. Sat, 28 Nov 2026

    Email

    Small Business Saturday note

A short note from you: who makes the products and why buying from a small shop matters. Keep the offer in the footer, not the headline.

  11. Sun, 29 Nov 2026

    Email

    Weekend reminder

Best sellers and what is running low. Exclude anyone who has already ordered during the sale.

  12. Mon, 30 Nov 2026

    Date

    Cyber Monday

The last day of the main weekend.

  13. Mon, 30 Nov 2026

    Email

    Cyber Monday email

The last day. Say so in the subject line, and send a short last-call email in the evening.

  14. Tue, 1 Dec 2026

    Date

    Giving Tuesday

If you give to a cause, say how much and to whom. Skip it if you do not; a vague promise reads worse than silence.

  15. Mon, 7 Dec 2026

    Prep

    Thank new customers

New customers from the sale go into your post-purchase flow. Hold back the next discount so they learn your full-price value first.

  16. Fri, 11 Dec 2026

    Prep

    Write down what happened

Revenue by email, the best subject line, what sold out, what you would change. This is next year’s plan.

When Black Friday and Cyber Monday fall

Black Friday is the day after US Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday of November. Cyber Monday is the Monday after. In 2026 that makes Thanksgiving Thursday 26 November, Black Friday Friday 27 November, Small Business Saturday 28 November and Cyber Monday 30 November. In 2027 Black Friday is 26 November and Cyber Monday 29 November.

The planner computes these from the rule for whichever year you pick, so it is never out of date. The dates follow US Thanksgiving everywhere, including stores selling in the UK, Canada and Australia.

How the plan is laid out

Every step is a number of days from Black Friday:

  • 8 weeks before: decide one offer and work out that it still leaves a profit after ad costs. Check stock.
  • 6 weeks before: change your sign-up form to promise early access.
  • 4 weeks before: keep sending your normal emails, so a quiet list is not suddenly hit with five emails a week.
  • 3 weeks before: check that abandoned checkout, browse abandonment and welcome flows are live and tested.
  • 2 weeks before: a teaser email. No code yet.
  • 1 week before: early access for subscribers (optional), matching the 7-day lead Tilly’s calendar uses for shopping events.
  • Black Friday to Cyber Monday: a launch email, a note from you on Small Business Saturday, a weekend reminder that excludes anyone who has ordered, and a Cyber Monday email.
  • Optionally, Cyber Week through the Friday, with a last call that day.
  • Afterwards: move new customers into the post-purchase flow, and write down what worked.

A worked example

A store planning 2026 with early access and SMS on, and Cyber Week off, gets the offer decision on Friday 2 October, the teaser on Friday 13 November, early access by email and text on Friday 20 November, the launch on Friday 27 November, and the Cyber Monday email on Monday 30 November with a last call that evening. Add a Christmas shipping cut-off of Friday 18 December and an order-by reminder lands on Tuesday 15 December.

To check the offer, put your margin into the ROAS calculator: a discount comes straight off the margin, so the break-even ROAS for your ads rises with it.

Common BFCM mistakes

  • Deciding the discount last. A deeper discount means a higher break-even ROAS on every ad you run that week.
  • Waking a cold list in November. Mailbox providers watch how people react to your mail; a burst of sends to people who stopped opening months ago hurts delivery for everyone else.
  • Emailing buyers about a sale they already used. Exclude people who ordered from the weekend reminders.
  • Untested flows. Traffic is at its highest; a broken abandoned checkout email costs the most this week.
  • Forgetting the next month. New customers from the sale are the start of your December and January.

What it does not do

It dates the steps and says what each is for. It does not write the emails, pick the products or know your stock. For the rest of the season, use the email calendar generator, or let the email calendar agent plan and draft it for your customers.

Questions people ask

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday 27 November 2026. Thanksgiving is Thursday 26 November, and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November.

When should I start planning BFCM?

Around eight weeks out, which in 2026 is early October. That leaves time to decide the offer, grow the early-access list and check your flows before traffic peaks.

Should I give subscribers early access?

It rewards the people who signed up and spreads orders over more days. It also means your offer is public a week earlier, so decide whether the extra week of sales is worth that.

Is Black Friday the same date outside the US?

Yes. It follows US Thanksgiving everywhere, even in countries that do not celebrate it.

Can I copy the plan?

Yes. The copy button puts the whole plan on your clipboard as text, one line per step, ready to paste into a doc or a calendar.
