Why people look for something other than Motion

The entry price assumes big budgets. Motion's Starter plan is $750 a month for brands spending up to $50k a month on ads, and Pro is $1,200. A store spending a few thousand a month would pay a large share of its ad budget for analysis. source, checked 25 September 2026

Analysis needs someone to act on it. Motion tags and analyses every creative and ships briefs and hooks into Slack; the value depends on a team turning those briefs into new ads every week. source, checked 25 September 2026

It is not built for Shopify's app ecosystem. Motion has no Shopify App Store listing we could read, and connects to attribution tools such as Northbeam and Google Analytics rather than to the store itself. source, checked 25 September 2026

The biggest plans are quoted, not listed. Motion's Growth tier, for brands spending over $125k a month, is priced on request, so the brands most likely to need it cannot compare it on paper. source, checked 25 September 2026

Tilly

Best for: a Shopify store without a creative team, which needs new Meta ads written for its real customers, checked against policy and published paused, plus email, blog and page work from the same brand profile.

Watch out for: Tilly does not analyse your historical creative, tag ads or report across your whole account. It reports on the ads it makes.

Pricing: 100 free credits once; Store plan $49 a month for 500 credits; a set of ads is 25 credits.

Madgicx

Best for: a store with steady Meta spend that wants creative analysis together with automation rules and ready-made audiences, installed from the Shopify App Store.

Watch out for: Its main plan price is shown inside the app rather than on its pricing page, and its Shopify rating was 4.1 from 16 reviews when we checked.

Pricing: From $49 a month according to its listing, after a 7-day free trial. source, checked 25 September 2026

AdCreative.ai

Best for: a store that wants to generate ad creative cheaply and in volume, and have its creative performance analysed, at a low monthly price on Shopify.

Watch out for: No reviews on its Shopify listing when we checked, and a 3-day trial to judge it in.

Pricing: Shopify Special at $19 a month with 100 credits. source, checked 25 September 2026

Ryze AI

Best for: a store that wants the insight acted on automatically: Ryze rotates creative before it fatigues and adjusts bids and budgets itself, for a flat fee that does not grow with spend.

Watch out for: It acts on live spend across several platforms; set its approval controls before connecting accounts.

Pricing: Paid Ads Autopilot $89 a month; 7-day free trial; 20% off annual billing. source, checked 25 September 2026

How to choose

Be honest about your spend and your team. Motion earns its price when a brand spends heavily on paid social and has people who turn analysis into new creative every week. Without both, a cheaper tool that makes or runs the ads will do more.

If your gap is new creative, choose a maker: Tilly for ads written around your customers and published paused, AdCreative.ai for volume at a low price.

If your gap is running the account, choose an optimiser: Madgicx for rules and audiences you control, Ryze for an autopilot that changes bids and budgets itself.

Whatever you pick, keep one number constant. Decide on cost per purchase or return on ad spend before you start, and judge the new tool on that after a few weeks at a steady budget.

Keep what Motion taught you. Before cancelling, export the reports on your best hooks, formats and angles. They are the most useful brief you have for whatever makes your next ads, and no tool on this list can rebuild that history for you.

Then decide whether you still need analysis at all. A store spending a few thousand a month on Meta learns more from running two new, well-aimed ads a week and comparing cost per purchase than from tagging dozens of old ones. As spend grows, analysis earns its place again.

Try before you commit where you can. Motion's pricing page offers demos and a call to choose a plan rather than stating a free trial; Madgicx, AdCreative.ai and Ryze list free trials, and Tilly's free start is 100 credits, once, with no card.

Questions people ask

Is there a cheaper alternative to Motion?

Every tool on this list costs less than Motion's $750 Starter plan: AdCreative.ai from $19 a month on Shopify, Tilly and Madgicx from $49, and Ryze from $89. They do different jobs, so the cheapest is not automatically the right one.

Which alternative analyses creative like Motion?

Madgicx and AdCreative.ai both offer AI analysis of creative performance. Neither states the depth of tagging Motion describes on its pricing page.

Does Tilly work for large ad budgets?

Tilly makes and publishes ads regardless of budget, but it does not analyse whole-account creative history the way Motion does. Large brands with creative teams may want both.

Which of these works without a creative team?

Tilly writes and makes the ads and publishes them paused, so no designer is needed to get a set live. AdCreative.ai generates banners you choose and upload. Ryze runs accounts but relies on creative existing. Motion and Madgicx assume someone acts on their analysis.
