The Klaviyo Shopify app is installed. Now the flows need writing.
The Klaviyo Shopify app connects your store's customers, orders and browsing to Klaviyo. What it cannot do is write the emails. Tilly writes your flows and campaigns for the customers you actually have, and saves them in Klaviyo as drafts for you to switch on.

Shopify and Klaviyo work well together because Klaviyo sees what each person browsed, added and bought, and can start a flow on any of it. Setting up Klaviyo with Shopify well is two jobs. The connection is the quick one. The flows, and what each email says, are the slow one.
Connect Klaviyo to Shopify: what the app sets up
To connect Klaviyo to Shopify, install the Klaviyo app from the Shopify App Store; it is free to install. Its listing says new stores get a guided setup, a sign-up form, a welcome email and an abandoned-checkout flow, without leaving the Shopify admin. source, checked 9 October 2026

The flows a store needs, written for its customers
The guided setup gives you starter emails. Your customers need emails that answer what stops them. Tilly writes 8 flows, each email aimed at one persona from your audit and one pain point, in your brand voice: welcome, cart and checkout reminders, browse reminder, post-purchase, review request, winback and replenishment.
Each flow arrives in Klaviyo as a draft with its timing set: the welcome flow's first email 30 minutes after sign-up, the checkout reminder 1 hour after a checkout is started. A whole flow costs 30 credits.
- Every email aimed at one persona and one pain point
- Timings set in each flow's own rules
- Saved as drafts, never switched on for you

What Tilly reads and writes in Klaviyo
Tilly connects with a Klaviyo private API key you paste in, stored encrypted. It writes email templates, draft flows and draft campaigns, and reads your lists and segments, your existing flows, so a new one never replaces a running one, and the results of the emails it made.
It never switches a flow live and never schedules or sends a campaign; you do that in Klaviyo. The full list is on the integrations page.
- Writes: templates, draft flows, draft campaigns
- Reads: lists, segments, existing flows, results
- Never: switches a flow live or sends a campaign

The two flows Klaviyo's API cannot start, said plainly
Two flows need a hand. Klaviyo has no API start for days since the last order, so Tilly writes the winback flow and you set its start in Klaviyo yourself. The replenishment flow goes to Klaviyo as a Placed Order flow that waits 30 days.
Everything else, from the welcome flow to the review request, goes in ready to review. Tilly tells you which is which on the flow itself, so nothing is half-built without you knowing.
- Winback: written by Tilly, started by hand in Klaviyo
- Replenishment: a Placed Order flow that waits 30 days
- Every other flow: in Klaviyo as a draft, ready to review
