Shopify email marketing, written for the customers you have
Shopify email marketing has two halves: flows that send themselves when someone does something, and campaigns you send on a date. Tilly writes both for your real customers and puts them in Klaviyo as drafts, so nothing goes out until you switch it on.

Shopify and email marketing fit together because the store already knows what each person did: signed up, added to cart, bought, stopped buying. Each of those is a reason to send one email, and the timing and the words decide whether it sells. Here is how each half works, and what Tilly does in it.
Flows: email marketing on Shopify that runs itself
A flow starts when a customer does something and stops when they buy. Tilly writes 8 of them, each with timings set in its flow rules. The cart reminder goes 2 hours after someone adds to cart and again 22 hours after that. The review request goes 14 days after the order is fulfilled. The winback starts 60 days after the last order.
Every flow that sells checks before each email whether the person has bought, and stops if they have. The post-purchase and review emails never carry a discount. Read each flow in full on the email flows pages.
- Welcome, cart, checkout and browse reminders
- Post-purchase thank-you and review request
- Winback and replenishment
- Checked before every email: has this person bought?

Shopify email campaigns, planned a month ahead
Campaigns are the emails you choose to send on a date: a launch, a sale, a holiday, a new post. Tilly's email calendar plans next month around the holidays that matter where your customers are, your launches and what each persona cares about, and the plan is free.
Each campaign is then written for one persona and costs 10 credits, and the month arrives in Klaviyo as draft campaigns. Email marketing in Shopify stores often stalls at exactly this step, because a blank month is harder to start than a month with every email outlined.
- Next month planned around dates that matter to your customers
- Each campaign written for one persona
- Draft campaigns in Klaviyo, sent when you choose

Growing the email list Shopify visitors join
Every flow depends on the list. A sign-up form or pop-up with a reason to join, a first-order offer, early access or a useful guide, is the start of the welcome flow. Your Shopify customer email list also holds everyone who ticked to receive marketing at checkout.
Only email people who agreed to it. Customers who bought but did not opt in can still get order and shipping emails, not marketing. Tilly writes the forms' copy as part of the welcome flow and keeps every email to people on your marketing list.
- A sign-up form with a reason to join
- Marketing consent collected at checkout
- Marketing email only to people who agreed

Every email written for one customer, in your voice
Generic emails go unread. Each email Tilly writes is aimed at one persona from your audit and one pain point, with the proof that answers it, in your brand voice. An email shows at most 4 products, and a discount only appears in the emails allowed one, with a code that exists in your store.
Someone who finishes a flow cannot enter it again for 60 days, so nobody gets the same welcome twice in a month. A whole flow costs 30 credits; the email marketing agent page shows one in full.
- One persona and one pain point per email
- At most 4 products in an email
- Discount codes only where allowed, and only real ones

Questions people ask
Can Shopify send email to all customers at once?
Yes. In Shopify Messaging or in Klaviyo, a campaign to your full marketing list reaches everyone who agreed to hear from you. That is how most stores send a sale or a launch, but a segment, like people who bought recently, usually gets more out of the same email.
How do I send email to Shopify customers who bought once and never came back?
That is the winback flow's job. Tilly's starts 60 days after the last order with a we-miss-you email, and follows 10 days later with a last reminder, the one email in it allowed a discount.
What shop emails should every store have?
Four to start: a welcome flow for new sign-ups, a cart or checkout reminder, a thank-you after the first order, and a review request after delivery. Every other shop email, campaigns included, is built on top of those.
Is email marketing through Shopify enough?
For simple campaigns and a basic welcome email, often yes. Once you want reminders that stop the moment someone buys, or emails that change with what a person ordered, most stores move to Klaviyo. The Shopify email page compares the two.
How much does email marketing for Shopify store owners cost with Tilly?
Planning the month is free. A flow is 30 credits and a campaign 10, and the 100 credits you get at sign-up cover a flow and several campaigns. You also pay your email tool for sending, as you do today.
Does Tilly send the emails?
No. Tilly writes into Klaviyo as drafts. Flows and campaigns go out from your Klaviyo account when you switch them on there.
