Tilly

Shopify growth from three levers, pulled one test at a time

Shopify growth comes from three levers: more people visiting, more of them buying, and more of them buying again. Tilly's free audit shows which lever is weakest on your store, then plans the work and the tests to pull it.

Most stores reach for the first lever because it is the most visible: more ads, more traffic. If the store converts poorly, more traffic costs more and returns the same share. The cheapest growth is usually the lever nobody has touched, and finding it takes an honest look at all three.

Find the weakest lever first

The audit scores your store out of 100 across email, SEO, ads, conversion and brand, and those five scores map onto the three levers. Weak SEO and ads mean too few visitors. Weak conversion means visitors who leave. Weak email means buyers who never come back.

The 30-day plan that follows is ordered by effort and impact for your store, so the first week goes to the lever with the most to give rather than the one that is easiest to talk about.

  • Visitors: SEO and ads
  • Buying: product pages, cart and checkout
  • Buying again: email after the first order

How to scale a Shopify store with tests, not hunches

To scale a Shopify store without guessing, change one thing at a time and keep what wins. Tilly keeps a backlog of hypotheses drawn from your audit, and for each A/B test on an email, an ad or a page it writes the hypothesis, picks the measure and works out how many visitors or sends the test needs before it can be called.

Tilly does not split traffic itself. You run the test in the tool that sends or serves it, enter the counts, and Tilly calls the winner from them. Planning and sizing a test costs 10 credits.

Buying again: the lever most stores leave alone

A second order costs no ad spend. Tilly's post-purchase email thanks a first-time buyer a day after the order, with no discount. The review request follows 14 days after fulfilment, and the replenishment reminder 30 days after an order, for products people run out of.

Someone who has not ordered for 60 days gets the winback flow. Each of these is written for the persona the customer belongs to, and goes into Klaviyo as a draft.

  • A thank-you a day after the first order
  • A review request 14 days after fulfilment
  • A reorder reminder and a winback, on their own timings

Growth you can read every week

Each week Tilly sends the results and the next three things worth doing, free. With Google Analytics connected, each page fix you mark done is measured on that page's own visits and sales, which tells you whether a change grew anything or just moved numbers around.

The Store plan is $49 a month for 500 credits. The Growth plan is $149 a month for 2,000 credits and up to 3 stores, for when one store becomes a few.

  • A weekly report with the next three things to do
  • Each page fix measured on its own page
  • Plans from $49 a month

Questions people ask

What is the fastest way to grow a Shopify store?

Fix the weakest lever first. If the store converts poorly, a product page fix beats more ad spend; if buyers never return, a post-purchase flow beats both. The free audit shows which one is weakest on yours.

What does it take to scale Shopify store sales past the first plateau?

Usually the lever that has been ignored. Stores that plateau have often pushed traffic hard and left repeat buying alone, or the reverse. Run the audit, pull the weakest lever for a month, and measure before moving to the next.

When should I scale ad spend?

When the pages your ads send people to turn visits into orders, and when you know which ad and which customer group did it. Scaling before that pays more for the same share of buyers.

Does Tilly run the A/B tests?

Tilly plans and sizes each test and calls the winner from the counts you enter. It does not split traffic: the test runs in your email tool, your ad account or your page testing tool.

How long does an A/B test need?

As long as it takes to reach the size worked out before it started, and no less. Stopping when one side looks ahead is how most false wins happen. Tilly sizes every test before it begins, and the significance calculator checks one by hand.

What does Shopify growth with Tilly cost?

The audit is free. A test plan is 10 credits, a CRO audit 20, an email flow 30. Plans start at $49 a month, and you get 100 credits when you sign up.

Is Shopify growth mostly about more traffic?

Traffic is one lever of three. A store that doubles its visitors and keeps the same conversion and repeat rate has doubled its ad bill too. Growth that lasts usually comes from all three moving a little.
